The Goldsboro News-Argus reports that authorities in New Hanover County have made an arrest in an October 10, 2015 hit-and run collision. The suspect apparently called the police claiming to have witnessed the collision, but is believed to have actually been the driver of the vehicle involved, due to damages found to his vehicle. The suspect has claimed the damage to his vehicle occurred from another incident.
The Goldsboro Daily News reports that one person died Monday, October 19, 2015 in a collision in Wayne County where a tractor trailer collided with a car around 2 p.m. The driver of the car was killed, and a child seat was found in the rear of the vehicle so police searched the area using thermo-imaging equipment to ensure no child was ejected from the vehicle.
The Daily News also reports on another Monday wreck, this one involving a dump truck and an SUV in Wayne County. This report states the collision occurred when the truck slowed to make a left turn and the SUV tried to pass it on the right. It is not clear, however, which vehicle was at fault, as many trucks make wide turns, so the only warning to other vehicles would be if they utilize their directional.
