Earlier this year, a hit-and-run driver left an 18-year-old man he hit with his car in Willow Spring laid out on the side of the road with injuries that eventually landed the young man in intensive care at WakeMed. He is suffered a brain bleed as well as injuries to his kidney and pelvis in the collision. According to WRAL-TV, the incident happened just before 6 pm on a Wednesday. Prior to being struck, the young man was riding his skateboard on Mount Pleasant Road. The 47-year-old man behind the wheel of the car that hit the 18-year-old man was later arrested at his home after the police received a call from one of his relatives reporting that he may be the driver that fled the scene of the crash. Why Did a Driver Flee the Scene of a Wayne County Wreck?

The Goldsboro News-Argus recently reported about a Wayne County wreck where one driver fled the scene claiming he was an undocumented immigrant. Reportedly, the hit-and-run crash was one of three separate collisions that occurred during a three-minute span in Wayne County that day. However, it was the only traffic accident that involved a where a driver left the crash scene. The hit-and-run wreck happened near the intersection of Potts Road and Genoa Road. Per the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the hit-and-run driver caused the crash when he crossed into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle. The vehicle the hit-and-run driver’s car struck ran off the road following the collision. A witness who saw the accident said that the hit-and-run driver appeared to be drunk and told him that he was an undocumented immigrant before he fled the scene. What Should Cyclists Do If They Are the Victim of a Hit-and-Run?

Back in December, WRAL-TV reported on a hit-and-run accident that resulted in a bicyclist’s death. Reportedly, the crash happened around 11:30 pm on a Wednesday at the intersection of Carolina Avenue and Western Boulevard. After colliding with the 56-year-old cyclist, the 25-year-old driver fled the scene in her vehicle. The cyclist died on the scene. The driver was arrested about an hour later when she was caught at a traffic stop officers conducted at the Hadley Road and Cross Link Road intersection. She was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI), felony hit and run, texting while driving, having an open container in her vehicle and felony death by motor vehicle.
