View This Year’s Winners!

The Riddle & Brantley, LLP, Scholarship Program seeks to nurture the academic learning of outstanding students and propel the fulfillment of advantageous careers. Five scholarship grants worth $1,000 each will be given to deserving students who write winning essays. We are very enthusiastic to provide students a chance to further their education and attain a higher level of learning. We look forward to reviewing your application, and wish you success in all your future endeavors.


  • Be a U.S. citizen residing in North Carolina, or a legal permanent North Carolina resident.
  • Be accepted to an institution of higher learning.
  • Be a current high school senior registered at a North Carolina high school or
  • A college student enrolled at a North Carolina college (2- or 4-year).


The following documents must be provided for consideration (.doc, .docx, or .pdf format only) to scholarships@justicecounts.com:

  • A digital photo (.jpg) of yourself.
  • An essay entry focusing on the chosen theme for this year.
    • Include your full name, email address, mailing address and phone number at the top of your essay. This will be the information that we use to contact you if your essay is selected as the winner, but will not be shared with the public if you become a finalist.  If you are one of the 5 winners, your name and image will be shared with the public.
    • Include 1-2 sentences about yourself. (What school, college or university you attend or plan to attend, and your plans for the future, and what school you are attending now.)

Employees of Riddle & Brantley, LLP, Consultwebs.com, Inc., their boards of directors and immediate family members are not eligible for this essay contest.


A persuasive essay on


Your essay should be of no less than 500 words.


The five best essay entries will be selected and five students will be granted $1,000 scholarships. The Law Firm Scholarship award recipients will be notified of the selection on or before June 1, 2016.


  • Essay submissions open: February 1, 2016
  • Essay submissions close: May 20, 2016
  • Winners announced: June 1, 2016


All essays and photos must be submitted to scholarships@justicecounts.com by the deadline of May 20, 2016.

The essays will then be judged by Riddle & Brantley, LLP. Judges will look for essays that are clear, original, well-supported and of serious nature. The best five essays will be selected from the above criteria.

We will notify all five winners of their selection on June 1, 2016. On that same date, a page will go live on www.justicecounts.com which will display the essays written by our best five prize winners.

Each winner of this essay contest will be awarded a check from the law firm of Riddle & Brantley, LLP. The check will be made out to your registered school. These funds must be used to pay for school tuition and/or school-related expenses.

Entry materials will not be returned to any entrant. By submitting an entry, you acknowledge that if you win the scholarship contest, Riddle & Brantley, LLP, will own all rights to publish and promote the submission.
